Shabbat and Holidays

The Arizona Board of Regents policy states that "Administrators and faculty members are expected to reasonably accommodate individual religious practices. A refusal to accommodate is justified only when undue hardship would result from each available alternative of reasonable accommodation." If you have an issue, we recommend that you first speak with the teacher, then to the department head, then contact  Michelle at Hillel.

Shabbat services are held at the UA Hillel every other Friday evening (depending on the calendar) when school is in session. There are three student-led options to choose from: Reform, Conservative, and a non-service alternative.  Students who are interested in leading or organizing a service should contact the staff.

A delicious kosher dinner follows Shabbat services.  Dinner is FREE for students, $8 for community members.   Advanced registration is requested so we can prepare enough food!

Holiday commemorations at Hillel vary depending on when they fall during the year.  We do our best to accommodate all of our students, so please let us know if there is something missing.  When Hillel is not conducting an event, we will connect students to the community.
